Which ceramic coatings does Shine Lab Co. offer?

On Brad's price sheet, every coating comes with paint work first. Paint Enhancement + Ceramic Sealant starts at $650, Paint Enhancement + 3-Year Ceramic Coating at $800, Paint Enhancement + 5-Year Ceramic Coating at $1,000, the Premium Ceramic Coating Package at $1,300 and Paint Correction + Ceramic Coating at $1,500. Ceramic Coating Maintenance for a coated vehicle starts at $250. All prices are starting prices and subject to inspection.

Who installs the coating?

Brad does. In his own words: "We have over 30 years of detailing experience and are certified ceramic coating installers for Owner's Pride and System X." Shine Lab Co. is run by Brad and his family, with no outsourcing, so the person who inspects your paint is the person who coats it. His full list of coating and detailing brands is on the Brands & Warranties page.

Do I need paint correction before a coating?

Usually, yes. A coating protects whatever is underneath it, swirls and scratches included. Brad's price list on his current website recommends a paint enhancement or correction before every ceramic coating: it removes swirls and oxidation, maximizes gloss and helps the coating bond. Skipping it locks imperfections in. That is why every coating on his price sheet comes with an enhancement or correction first.

What does a coating do, and what does it not do?

A ceramic coating forms a hard, slick layer over the paint. Water beads and runs off, dirt has less to grip, and washing gets faster. Bugs and pollen come off with less effort, which matters in North Florida. Evan Maulden wrote that a truck coating Brad did almost a year earlier had "held up great," and Brody Pack wrote: "Bugs come off with minimal effort."

A coating does not stop rock chips, door dings or deep scratches, and it does not make a vehicle self-cleaning. It still needs regular, gentle hand washing. Paint protection film is a separate product made for impact protection.

What about wheels, glass, trim and interiors?

Coatings are not just for paint. Brad's Protection & Add-Ons list includes Wheel Face Ceramic Coating from $150, Complete Wheel Ceramic Coating from $300, Window Ceramic Coating from $175, Full Interior Ceramic Coating from $300 and Carpet-Only Ceramic Protection from $150. Headlights can be restored and coated from $125 each. Boats get Oxidation Removal + 5-Year Marine Ceramic Coating from $130 per linear foot.

How the work goes

Done carefully, start to finish.

  • Wash and decontamination

Washed, iron-removed and clayed, so nothing bonded to the paint ends up under the coating.

  • Paint inspection

Bright light shows the swirls and haze, and decides how much correction the paint needs first.

  • Enhancement or correction

Brad's advice: polish before coating, so the finish under the coating is the one you want to keep.

  • Panel prep

Polishing oils wiped off, because a coating has to bond to bare, clean paint to last.

  • Coating, panel by panel

Applied and leveled by hand, then left to cure. Heat and humidity change how quickly it sets.

  • Care afterward

Coated paint still needs gentle hand washes. Brad goes over the care for your coating.

Frequently asked

Ceramic Coating questions.

How much does a ceramic coating cost?

Paint Enhancement + 3-Year Ceramic Coating starts at $800 and Paint Enhancement + 5-Year Ceramic Coating at $1,000. Paint Correction + Ceramic Coating starts at $1,500. All prices are starting prices and subject to inspection.

Are you a certified installer?

Yes. Brad is a certified ceramic coating installer for Owner's Pride and System X.

What is the difference between a coating and wax?

Durability. Wax sits on top and wears off in weeks to a few months. A ceramic coating forms a harder bonded layer rated in years: Brad's sheet lists 3-year and 5-year coatings.

Does a coating stop scratches and chips?

No. Coatings resist light marring and make paint easier to clean, but they do not stop rock chips, door dings or deep scratches.

What does the warranty cover?

Warranty terms vary by coating system. The terms for yours are confirmed with Brad before your coating is installed.

How do I wash a coated vehicle?

Gently, by hand, with a pH-neutral soap and soft towels. Avoid brush-type automatic washes. Brad's deluxe hand wash is coating safe.
