What does a hand wash cost at Shine Lab Co.?

A Deluxe Hand Wash starts at $75, and a Clay Bar Treatment & Ceramic Sealant starts at $195. Those are Brad's own starting prices from his price sheet, and every price is subject to inspection, because a truck fresh off a dirt road and a garage-kept sedan are not the same job. RVs and boats are priced by the linear foot: an RV Exterior Hand Wash and an Exterior Boat Wash each start at $15 per foot.

Why a hand wash instead of a tunnel wash?

Brush-style automatic washes drag yesterday's grit across today's paint. Over months that shows up as fine swirl marks, most visibly on black and dark blue paint. A hand wash lets every panel be rinsed, washed with clean tools and checked. Touchless washes skip the brushes but lean on stronger chemicals, and they often leave a film of road grime behind on the lower panels.

If your vehicle has a ceramic coating, a careful hand wash is also how you keep it performing. Coatings shed water and dirt, but they still need regular, gentle washing with a pH-neutral soap. Brad's current website lists his deluxe hand wash as coating safe for exactly that reason.

When do you need a clay bar treatment instead of a wash?

Run your fingertips over clean paint inside a thin sandwich bag. If it feels gritty, bonded contaminants such as rail dust, tree-sap mist or overspray are stuck to the clear coat, and soap alone will not lift them. A clay bar treatment pulls them off so the paint feels smooth again, and the ceramic sealant adds a layer of protection on top. It is also the right first step before any polishing, so the polisher never grinds those particles into the finish.

How often should a North Florida vehicle be washed?

Every two weeks suits most daily drivers, and sooner after pollen season, a dirt road, a long highway trip or a day at the coast. Love bugs, oak pollen and sap all set faster on hot paint, and droppings left in July sun can etch the clear coat within days. A vehicle that lives outside under trees needs washing more often than one kept in a garage.

Rinse before contact
Loose sand and grit come off before a mitt touches the paint, the step that prevents most wash scratches.
Top-down hand wash
Upper panels first, lower panels last, so road grime from the rockers never travels back up.
Wheels on their own
Brake dust and road film get their own tools, kept away from the paint.
Glass and trim
Windows, mirrors and plastic trim cleaned with the paint, so nothing streaks in the sun.
Dried before spots form
North Florida water carries minerals. Drying right after the rinse keeps them off the paint and glass.
Safe for coatings
A gentle hand wash is how ceramic-coated paint should be cleaned, and it keeps a coating working.

Is your wash safe for ceramic coatings?

Can a wash remove swirl marks?

No. Washing cleans the surface but does not change it. Swirls are reduced by paint enhancement or paint correction, which Brad offers with a ceramic sealant or coating, from $650.

Do you wash boats and RVs too?

Yes. An RV Exterior Hand Wash and an Exterior Boat Wash each start at $15 per linear foot, and Boat Wash & Sealant at $65 per foot. Every RV and boat service is on the prices page.

Should I wash in the sun?

It makes a good wash harder. Hot panels dry soap and water before they can be rinsed, which leaves spots. Early morning, evening or shade works best.
